Of course you could always just purchase some beard balm or oil, but if you’re anything like us, you like knowing exactly what ingredients are in the products you’re using. The only way to be completely sure of that is to source the ingredients yourself and make it at home.

On the other hand, even if you don’t care all that much about ingredients, it’s super fun to make things for yourself and especially if you’re letting your kids pitch in to help! This beard balm would also make a terrific DIY gift to give for Father’s Day!

SO, what all is needed for this DIY BEARD BALM?

Ingredients in small white bowls on wooden surface. Essential oils and vitamin e oil.
  • Jojoba oil or almond oil
  • Coconut oil

  • Vitamin E oil
  • Beeswax
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • 4 oz. jar or tin (We used these from amazon)

What are good Essential oils for beard balm?

My personal favorite scent combo is Bergamot & Vanilla. It smells a bit like vanilla spice! When it comes to scent, you’ll have to know your preference or the preference of the man in your life. As far as my husband is concerned, he is happy with whatever I like, so vanilla spice is good with him! Something like Cedarwood may also be a good choice and I know it is a pretty popular choice among men.

When it comes to where to purchase, Selah Oils are my top pic. They are an all-around great company and have an excellent referral program, plus you can also earn points to put towards future purchases! But for a good second choice, I will sometimes purchase my oils from Eden’s Garden as well.

Some of the benefits of BERGAMOT oil:

It’s a great oil for your skin, so using on your beard would add in these benefits. It may support the body and how it responds to these things:

  • Blackheads
  • Eczema
  • Acne
  • Candida

It also has many therapeutic benefits including being antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Bergamot is also known to assist with feelings of anxiousness, so a great mood boosting oil to have close to your nose!
